Camp is very active and participatory. All staff positions involve hands-on supervision of campers with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. Staff members are required to perform a variety of tasks with campers, including but not limited to: dressing, feeding, lifting, bathing, toileting, supervising, cleaning and participating in the full range of camp activities.

Camp Staff applicants must:
1. Submit an application
2. Provide 3 References
3. Interview with the Executive or Camp Director
4. Submit to Criminal Background Check
5. Submit to a check of the National Sex Offender Public Registry
6. Attend staff training commencing June 10, 2012

All staff live on site for the entire contract period (June 10- August 4, 2012) and in cabins with campers. Meals and housing are provide. Pets cannot be accommodated.

The camp has a Code of Conduct that the Employment Agreement incorporates. There is a strict policy against the use of alcohol and illegal or illicit drugs while contracted and on camp property. Use of tobacco products is strongly discouraged.

Program Specialists

Program Specialists work in an activity area each day as described below and assist in the cabin area in the evenings with campers. Program staff is responsible for planning their daily programs, meeting safety requirements, keeping program area neat and maintained, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Supervises Activity Specialists, ensuring daily programs are planned with alternatives for inclement weather. With the assistance of activity specialists, plans evening camp wide activities, special activities and opening and closing activities

Provide a program of outdoor activities offering campers an opportunity to learn about nature and an appreciation of the outdoor world

Provide a daily round of activities including basketball, volleyball, softball, and other sport activities

Lifeguards 2 positions
Provide swimming activities on a daily basis for campers and staff, lifeguard pool activities, perform minor maintenance and keep pool house and pool area clean. Cabin Counselors male and female 16 positions
Supervise and live in the cabin with campers and supervise daily life care skills (showering, sleeping, dressing, etc.) attend and supervise campers in daily activities and, as needed, assist with program planning. Cabin Counselors are assigned a set of campers, they observe and are aware of all the campers in their cabin or program group;they try to learn the campers' habits, behaviors and maintain a continual knowledge of the campers' whereabouts

Serves as a cabin counselor but provides supervision to all cabin staff ensuring campers' involvement in the program as well as health and well-being.

Assistant Camp Health Supervisor-Health and Medical Staff Job Summary
1. Provides for general health care and safety aspects of all campers and staff
2. Special needs for children and adults include but are not limited to Downs Syndrome, Aspergers Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, autism, and emotional disabilities. Many of the campers have chronic health conditions.
3. Provides administration and supervision of health policies, procedures, regulations, supplies, and budgets
4. Recruits, trains, and supervises healthcare staff
5. Communicates with campers and parents
6. Communicates health issues and concerns with general camp staff as indicated
7. Dispenses medications is a timely and safe fashion, and maintains medication logs and records, demonstrating a knowledge and a competency of over the counter and prescription medications.
8. Responds to emergencies in camp
9. Covers clinic hours per schedule

Qualifications
1. Valid Virginia Board of Nursing license as a registered nurse
2. Highly motivated individual with a passion for our mission as well as strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
3. Able to relate to the needs of special needs population of all ages in a close, personal, recreational setting. Preference for experience in pediatrics/school/community and/or camp healthcare.
4. CPR for adult, child, and infant
5. AED trained
6. Must have the self confidence and a willingness to interact with campers, their parents and guardians, physicians, and camp staff in a positive, flexible, and patient manner.
